Members from the Los Angeles Oiled Bird Care and Education Center, a facility funded by the Oiled Wildlife Care Network, hosted members of the media and Unified Command Oct. 8, 2021, to show how rescued birds are rehabilitated after the recent California oil spill. The rescue center completes full medical examinations on every bird captured by their teams located at various beaches affected by the spill. The center has their hospitals in California and Alaska and employees work meticulously to care for waterbirds in crisis.
